The Zaanse Schans Audio Tour · version 1, October 2026
In short
- No account, no tracking cookies, no ads.
- Your GPS position stays on your phone. We never receive it.
- When you pay, we only get what we need to deliver the tour and keep our accounts.
1. Who is responsible
Dutch Discoveries, KvK [number], [address], is responsible for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: [contact email].
2. What we use, and why
- Payment. Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe asks for your email address and payment details; we receive your email address, the amount, the payment method and the date, never your full card or bank details. We use this to deliver the tour, send your personal link and keep our accounts, as the law requires (we keep payment records for 7 years).
- Your personal link by email. After payment we email you your personal link, sent through our email provider Resend.
- Feedback. If you send us a message with the form at the end of the tour, it is emailed to the guide (through Resend), together with your email address if you give one. We only use it to read your feedback, improve the tour and reply to you, and we delete it when it’s no longer needed.
- Reviews on Google. If you leave a review on Google, that happens on Google’s website under Google’s own terms; we only see what you publish there.
- Partner codes. If you came through a QR code of one of our partners, we note that partner’s code with your payment, so we can pay them their share. The partner does not get your details.
- Hosting. The website runs on Cloudflare. Like every web server, it briefly processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect against abuse.
- Fonts. Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers.
3. Location
If you allow it, the map uses your phone’s GPS to show where you are and to tell you when you reach a stop. This happens only on your phone. Your location is never sent to us or stored anywhere else.
4. Cookies and storage on your phone
We only use what the tour needs to work, so no cookie banner is needed:
- zst_access and zst_unlocked: cookies that remember you paid, so the full tour opens. They expire when your access ends.
- Local storage in your browser: which stops you’ve visited (the green checks) and, if you came through a partner, that partner’s code.
- Offline copy: the audio you save for offline use is stored in your browser. You can remove it by clearing your browser data.
5. Sharing and transfers
We never sell your data. We only share it with the services above, which process it on our behalf. Some of them are based in the United States; they protect data transfers with the safeguards required by EU law.
6. Your rights
You may ask us to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing [contact email]. We can’t delete payment records we are legally required to keep. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
